Nesma (Netherlands Software Metrics Users Association) started May 12, 1989 under the name NEFPUG (NEtherlands Function Point Users Group). In 1995 we changed our name into NESMA.

Nesma is now an independent international organization focused on software metrics and software measurement. Besides creating and standardizing measurement guidelines and function points, we also partner with benchmark organisations and we provide guidelines for applying metrics in for example project steering, outsourcing and contracts. Also, we regularly organize events and meetings for users or practitioners of software metrics and for our members.
